Our graduating Kinders had a beautiful performance. Thank you to guardians for supporting these wonderful children. We are so proud of all Kindergarten classes this year.

The children have been writing poems about objects, finding the rhythm and beat of a familiar poem, and illustrating poems. Many have really enjoyed reading "School Bus" and others have thought of cleaver rhymes that could be added to "Down by the Bay." Each day we think of new ideas to write about.

Lots and lots of insects! All insects have six legs and three body parts (a head, thorax, and abdomen). Each child thought about where their insect would live, colors to help them survive, and how it would move. These are the insects that took such thoughtfulness to make:

The lemonade stand this week was fun. All the students enjoyed "working" at the lemonade stand. Next week is the last week for the graduation fundraiser.

Sadness and Celebration

Today we learned about the circle of life. One of our three beautiful goldfish is sick. He slept on the rocks all day today. All of us noticed. We talked about the fish. They are sad about the fish. We decided that when it dies we will either bury or flush it into the "ocean." This is the sad part of our day.

We celebrated Cinco de Mayo today! After discussing some history, we pretended that we hit a pinata and ran after candy. Thank you parents for the food that was sent!

In pairs, students used non-fiction picture books about their animal to create "facts"out of the information gathered from telling pictures. We learned that facts are different then our feelings and thoughts. They each worked really hard to turn their draft page into individual pages, table of contents, and cover page. Here are a few of the books, if your book isn't here, please share it with your parents in the room! We hope you enjoy them.
